Challenges

There were two big challenges with this project.

• Creating portfolio post type.
• Making sure the navigation bar changes to a solid background for pages other than the homepage.

The Result

The end result was the website didn't turn out exactly as I had planned via the Adobe Photoshop design. I had to remove some stuff to compensate for my lack of knowledge and experience on Wordpress theme development for certain elements.

What I Would Do Differently

When I redesign and redevelop my website the next time around, I'm going to switch over to a Node.js architecture and completely abandon the Wordpress framework mainly because of the limitations and performance heavy burden of the Wordpress CMS framework. Not only that, by going with a Node.js framework, I would have a easier time managing and maintaining the website, as well as making my life easier in terms of coding for scalability. For the blogging features, I would probably make my own implementation using Node.js or just use the Ghost.js blogging module while taking advantage of a microservice architecture.
